Case Study Project: Write a summary document from longer reports.
Process: At the beginning of the project, I met with the client who gave me several quite long reports. He asked me to write a summary document from this material, which had to include the most important aspects of the longer documents.
I assessed the content of the reports, then extracted and rewrote the most relevant material so it appealed to the specified audience.
Outcome: After approval, the summary was graphically designed ready for printing. We also placed the summary on the client’s website.
Case Study Project: Write content for client’s website.
Process: The client and I met to discuss the website’s concept and structure. At this meeting, I was given plenty of information about the various aspects of this State Emergency Service Unit. My job was to write the opening paragraphs for each of the pages as an introduction.
I met with my graphic designer and we discussed the concept, then he designed the site to meet requirements. I gave a proof to the client for comment and/or approval. The client gave me any changes and we incorporated them. We supplied a small easy to read manual on how to operate the content management system, as the client wanted to upload his own material.
Even though this Unit was small and located in a regional town, the site looked professional and met all the client’s requirements.
Outcome: The client was extremely happy with the look and feel of the site and received plenty of positive feedback.
Case Study Project: Prepare Annual Report
Process: As the Public Relations Consultant to AQWEST-Bunbury Water Corporation, part of my contract was to prepare the Annual Reports. Various team members had written the draft information, so I edited and rewrote the reports where necessary to ensure continuity.
We provided the client with various formats, for example, print version, web version and interactive PDF.
Once the content for the Annual Reports had been approved, it was graphically designed and provided in the agreed formats.
I selected the cover image to highlight a major project that had happened during the reporting period and chose internal images to complement the text.
Part of my job was to request printing quotes and commission a printer.
Outcome: This Annual Report was a finalist in the WS Lonnie Awards.
